Rough justice

Amerika's generaly approach to truancy and delinquency is to lock them up and throw away the key while conveniently ignoring the social aspects of violent crime thereby compounding the problem.

And in a 'free market' there is a price for everything. I hope Americans will be able to pay the bill when it comes due.

Why not then issue extradition orders for all the primarly dope dealers?

And further bear in mind that Jamaica is just a transhipment point.

It seems that if the US is serious in its war on drugs the real culprits are the producers of the illegal substances. Extradite the individuals behind this production and you would eliminate all the Dudus' in the Caribbean.

That a Jamacian drug lord was singled out for extradition makes absolutely no sense if the war on drugs is the primary motivation.

Was this brouha really about the arrest & extradition of a drug kingpin who has a negligible impact on US cocaine imports?

After all there are several hundred or thousands of drug lords accross the Caribbean not to mention those in the United States.

Why was apprehending this one of such vital importance?

One wonders about the real motive behind this incident.

Am sure that this is a problem Palm, RIM amd Google would love to have.

But, more to the point, there is a path through the forest: There are now Iphone apps available that do nothing but review other Iphone apps.

Note as well that many Iphone apps work well on the Ipod touch.

Building castles of sand

In response to Ian S and furthering S Riches contextual argument, the statement "rich people pay 100 times or more the tax that poor people pay" needs further qualification.

If it was asked what *percent* of income is paid by "rich" people versus "poor" I believe the answer would be more enlightening: most taxation is regressive and disporportionately impacts lower income earners.

Am curious about your statement. How would a banker know the value of a complex instrument on its balance sheet given the current dearth of liquidity?

A financial asset may be worth $0.85 on the dollar but if there are no buyers what is the real worth of my portfolio?
