"If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. ... That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing." (AP interview, April 7, 2003)
So two persons who want to enjoy each other, and might possibly even want a perfectly normal, monogamous married life is not only a licence to incest but actually undermine the fabric of society!?! I'm flabbergasted that this sort of man not only holds office, but is a serious player in the nomination.
What looked like a one-term presidency for Obama seems to be gradually changing as the Republicans bicker among themselves, targeting each other instead of Obama.
The way I see it, the average Republicans probably prefers a Democrat in the White House rather than sending an imperfect Republican there. And since perfection is rarely fully achieved, the Republicans have pretty much given away the presidency even now.
With changing demographics (thanks in large part to an irresponsible immigration policy that often encourages law-breakers), the going is likely to get tougher for the Republican Party in general. Their members' silly attitude and puritanism, aimed at choosing a perfect conservative, ignores the fact that to win they need someone with the basic must-have Republican traits who is also acceptable to independents.
Well, Axelrod and Obama will have a good night every night throughout November, it seems!
I have a subscription since I arrived to this country, USA, and even though sometimes I have read a few articles that are a little bit too conservative, I did enjoy them. But, lately the tune has gone out of control. It is depressing that any college-educated person, or anyone with an IQ above borderline, would refer to the extremist religious position of Santorum as those whom gays love to hate, implying by comparison that he is the victim of gays' hatred. Simply disappointing.
It's certainly a surge of santorum! It feels like santorum is everywhere! I am awash with with a flood of santorum! Froth, baby, froth!
Can we please, please, please, please all agree to stop calling it the "Santorum Surge". The visuals are terrifying... the visuals ahhhh please make it stop.
Since South Carolina, bookies have been increasing Obama's chances of winning. Ladbrokes is at 63.6%, Paddy Power at 65.2%.
The Santorum Surge. Hahaha.
Santorum will not compete with President Obama in the general election. Republicans will rally around the best money candidate (Romney) because they want Obama to lose more than they don't want a President Romney. Rick Santorum will have an incredibly tough time swaying Independent voters to his positions on gay right, marriage, and contraception. A President Santorum will not happen (as it shouldn't)
The google definition, yes. But as a Pennsylvania voter, really either version is disturbing...
I agree that Santorum's positions on many key issues are far more conservative than the average American. However, Santorum's honesty stand in stark contrast with Romney's populism.
"Santorum surge" has gone viral, with 257K results on Google today, yet the neologism is top ranked. It seems people have made the connection. Now everyone take a shower.
Ladbrokes has joined Paddy Power at 65.2%.
The human race was made male and female for a REASON. Anything other than that is NOT straight or if you like straightforward. Just ask any child. And children especially have been bullied by anti-naturals like the homo caucus. Yes, the fabric of society is being distorted by re-definitions. Only the straight and narrow way guarantees arrival at your destination. Indeed, there ARE natural limits to biology and biological change. I can understand your being 'flabbergasted' by Santorum. The feeling, I'm sure, is mutual.
This never looked like a one term presidency and if you thought that you have not been paying attention or been following a very warped narrative. This is why none of the GOP big guns have come out to play. In 4 years it will be Bush/Clinton which will be much more fun that this one way re-crowning. The powers that be in the GOP need the Tea Party to be slapped down after the disaster of the last 14 months in congress.
You must be using the connotative/slang definition of Santorum.
Are more Republicans afraid that Santorum would hand the election to President Obama than Democrats afraid that he might actually win?
A shower and a memory wipe, please...
Like the other GOP surges, this one is bound to leave a mess for someone else to clean up.
If they can't beat a socialist community organizer then they should hang it up.
You've got it right tsm12...hahaha!
