The centre-right coalition government is torn by internal tensions and potential defections, and reliant on opposition deputies for its survival. The dominant Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats will soldier on, but may need to rearrange the alliance as political loyalties shift, and particularly if a coalition member, the Liberal and Centre Union, goes under. Economic contraction in 2010 will turn to expansion in 2011, with growth of 2.9%. Cutting the deficit will be the focus, and the government will prepare a handful of state-run enterprises for divestment to private hands.
