The election in 2010 of a coalition government whose members enjoy both a solid legislative majority and common policy goals—a first in the Czech Republic in more than a decade—holds out the prospect of a stable term. This is qualified by inexperience among the main party leaders and the lack of a clearly dominant partner in the coalition. A tighter budget at home and weaker demand abroad will pull the economy back, holding growth to 2% in 2011.
