Let's face it: America and allies have lost the war, and the Taliban will eventually take control over Afghanistan.
America simply cannot afford the billions of dollars it takes to have a high-tech air-conditioned army in the theater for decades. The Talibs were never going anywhere: just fire a shot from a cheap AK once in a while, and wait. The corrupt drug-addicted Afghan government will eventually collapse. If this sounds like Vietnam, well, that is because it is.
Dear Sir: I believe that you can not mix politics with military decissions, although I realize that there are no easy ways to separate either one. But in this particular case, when elections in the U.S. are around the corner, the move has definitely a smell of the need for catching votes. After reading the reports about the resilient attitude of the Taliban and the continued future support of them by Pakistan,I believe that as long as the military stay there, the better in the long run. It is time for America to wake up and realize that its foreign wars don't accomplish their objectives, kill American youth and waste huge sums of money they do not have.
Bring your boys home and let the rest of the world solve their own problems, with their own blood.

It was the decision to go there in the first that was misguided.
The only thing misguided was the decisio to stay. Bomb, warn and leave, was the obvious thing to do.
